Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) welcomes Ms. Lisa Snowden as a coordinator of career counseling. Ms. Snowden has more than 10 years of experience in career technical education, most recently serving as a coordinator of the Coastline Regional Occupational Program in Costa Mesa.

While at the Coastline Regional Occupational Program (CROP), Ms. Snowden worked closely with NMUSD and Irvine Unified School District’s Career Technical Education (CTE) programs. She helped plan, organize and support staff to provide CTE and ROP to students.

Prior to her administrative role, Ms. Snowden served as a Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA) for CROP and Central Coast Regional Occupational Program. In these roles, she mentored new teachers, assisted with curriculum development and internship program development, organized and facilitated professional development trainings, implemented project-based instruction for large-scale student projects, and developed marketing tools to positively promote the CTE programs to students, parents and counselors.

“Ms. Snowden is known as a collaborative educator who has built effective relationships with community and educational partners, which we believe enables her to expand support to students in their pursuit of career goals,” said Michael Vossen, NMUSD director of College and Career Education.

This position is made possible through the K12 Strong Workforce Program (K12 SWP) initiative. In her role as NMUSD coordinator of career counseling, Ms. Snowden will assist with the alignment of CTE curriculum, activities and counseling efforts with post-secondary institutions resulting in early college credit attainment, industry certifications and work-based learning.

Ms. Snowden received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine and her Masters in Educational Administration and Administrative Services Credential from California State University Fullerton.

Ms. Lisa Snowden will join the NMUSD team on December 3, 2019.
